Dream Valley Farm

A family raising sable and nubian goats

Yummy!

We had decided to raise pigs for food last fall.   We questioned our ability to do so as when we took them to butcher we were told they were “realy small for their age” .  It cost us 156.00 per pig to raise them to approx 160 pounds.  We sold two of them…but only got 100.00 for them because they were small.  No one was interested in what we put into them…We definitley lost money on this!

We made a ham the first day we got the meat back.   It was delicious.  Yesterday we made pork chops for Stan’s BBQ.  Frankly it was the best pork I have ever had.  All doubts about our ability to raise pigs went out the window.  We will definitely do this again, once we get the proper shelters built.  Raising pigs inside the “chicken house”  was not easy, and was very dirty!   Worth it though.
